History

top

St. Andrew's Kids Day Out was founded in 1988 as an outreach ministry of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.  First known as a Mother's Day Out program, a name change was made to emphasize that while we serve our mothers, our focus is on our children,  creating a safe and exciting learning environment that is fun and playful.  It is a privilege and honor that we are able to serve you and your child with a quality program.  We feel that each child is a blessing, a true individual, and a special gift from God.

Vision

top

Our vision at St. Andrew's is that all children have the opportunity to grow and flourish in a safe, loving atmosphere.

Mission

top

Our mission is to provide a warm and caring environment to stimulate non-competitive learning.  It is important to us at St. Andrew's that every child is considered an individual with their own special gifts and talents.  Dedicated, loving teachers recognize each individual talent while building on strengths and nurturing weaknesses.  This foundation not only promotes self-esteem, but creates respect towards one another.

Our Program

top

Our program offers a well rounded curriculum for children 6 months to 5 years of age.  Classes are available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Each class is specifically designed to meet the individual needs of each child physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.  Our low student to teacher ratio enhances our ability to give each child personalized attention and ample time to explore, discover, and learn through play.

Curriculum

top

Each class offers age appropriate activities to stimulate and foster cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual growth.  All activities revolve around a weekly theme, letter, color, number, and shape, many of which are discovered through various centers explored throughout the day.  Language arts (including pre-reading/reading, pre-writing/writing, listening, and speaking), mathematics, science, fine arts (including art, music, and dramatic play), and gross motor activities, are all principal activities.  The petting zoo, the fire truck, the ambulance and the "Pumpkin Lady" are just a few of the monthly friends and speakers that come to visit.  We want your child's experience to be one of fun and wonder.

Chapel

top

Chapel is offered daily, and is a fun time for children to learn American Sign Language and movements to contemporary Christian music.  Each day the children learn a Bible story, The Lord's Prayer, and celebrate birthdays.  Special events such as our Stuffed Animal Blessing, St. Andrew's Day, and Spirit Week are also celebrated during this time as well.  It is an exciting and eventful part of our day.
